Operation Smile's student programs at universities aim to empower young people to actively engage in the organization's mission of bringing free, high-quality surgical care to children with cleft lip and cleft palate worldwide. These programs encourage students to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children born with facial deformities, as well as the impact of life-changing surgeries. Through fundraising events, students directly contribute to funding surgeries and related medical services, helping to bridge financial and geographical gaps in access to care. Additionally, by supporting local medical training and infrastructure, students contribute to Operation Smile's goal of creating sustainable health solutions in communities around the world. Beyond fundraising and awareness, Operation Smile’s university programs foster a deep sense of social responsibility and global citizenship among students. Participants gain valuable experience in organizing events, working in teams, and connecting with a network of like-minded individuals passionate about humanitarian work. The programs often offer volunteer opportunities, where students can assist with medical missions or community outreach. These hands-on experiences provide students with a firsthand look at healthcare challenges in low-resource settings, building empathy and understanding while nurturing a new generation of advocates committed to making a difference in global health.

OCAPUCR was founded to help all the pre-medical, dental, pharmacy, and many more pre and already healthcare students in as many ways as possible. The organization’s mission is to provide our students with as many resources as possible for free to help them successfully continue their educations at each of their professional schools. We believe by being role models and guidance to our students, we can help our students not only succeed in their careers but also become the next generational healthcare leaders who can do the same thing for their patients and students. We also believe these students can grow up to become healthcare workers in Riverside County and the Inland Empire area therefore we are also preparing the next generational physicians and other healthcare professionals for our community too. OCAPUCR is a name given for its meaning “Overall Consultation for All the Pre-med at UCR” to represent our passion for helping and taking care of all the pre-health students at UCR, even though it was named “all the pre-med” We are not limited to only medicine but opened to help other fields of healthcare like dental and pharmacy too. But, for now, we are mainly focused on medicine since we have mentors from that field of healthcare. Also, we are not limited to helping only UCR students, we believe free resources should be available as abundantly as possible to many students, therefore we are striving to help students who are outside of our UCR community too.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. The Founders, Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. From its inception, the Founders also conceived Phi Beta Sigma as a mechanism to deliver services to the general community. Rather than gaining skills to be utilized exclusively for themselves and their immediate families, the founders of Phi Beta Sigma held a deep conviction that they should return their newly acquired skills to the communities from which they had come. This deep conviction was mirrored in the Fraternity's motto, "Culture For Service and Service For Humanity."
