The founders of Pi Beta Phi® created the Fraternity to cultivate lifelong friendships among its members and inspire them to achieve the highest and best in life. Throughout its history, Pi Beta Phi has helped young women develop meaningful relationships while reaching their personal potential through leadership opportunities. These relationships help members adapt to college life by providing a sense of mutual support and guidance. But, finding a place to belong on campus is only the beginning. Today, the Fraternity continues to be a vehicle for serving others in the field of literacy. Pi Beta Phi’s 100-year literacy vision reads: Pi Beta Phi leads the way to a more literate society. The vision is supported by our Read. Lead. Achieve.® literacy platform, which includes the following initiatives: • Champions are Readers (CAR): Pi Phi’s hands-on program, CAR is a monthlong reading enrichment program for third-grade elementary students.
