Our Story The DVC at UCR was started by Richard Nguyen (DJ Simplex) in Jan. 2014 as a means to create UCR's first network of deejays. A club extended from San Diego to Riverside, the DVC brings people together with a similar passion for music. Today, the club continues to act as a network, while additionally providing new and aspiring deejays the lessons and experience required to become a great deejay. In the past, DVC has played at UCR's Block Party, Heat Music Festival and Spring Splash concerts. Our alumni & current deejays have gone on to deejay at Coachella , Sevilla of Riverside, Teregram Ballroom Los Angeles and Brownies & Lemonade . Who We Are No prior deejay, music production or music experience is required to join DVC at UCR. General meetings range from discussions about deejay philosophy to mixing demonstrations to modern music analyzation to marketing yourself as an artist at UC Riverside. DVC also hosts a mentorship/house programs, where members are assigned into "houses", to better streamline learning and artist growth. The house system also creates a sense of competitiveness in the club, while the general events creates a family around the DVC community. DVC holds in-house competitions, production workshops and general mixing sessions to showcase the art of deejaying and music. DVC also hosts events called Fireplaces; live-streamed events where DVC members socialize and play out their diverse music choices.
