Underground Scholars Initiative

Underground Scholars Initiative (USI) was created to support all prospective and current UC Riverside students who have been formerly incarcerated and/or system impacted to create a safe space and provide opportunities for success at the University and within the community. It is to further the development of the Prison-to-School pipeline by supporting students impacted by imprisonment, incarceration, detainment, etc. The organization strives to help previously and/or currently incarcerated individuals transition into the UC system culture through resources, peer counseling to help students and their families find alternatives to incarceration with the empowerment of higher education.
