The purpose(s) of this organization shall be to foster an engaged community of future transportation professionals at the University of California, Riverside, a leading institution in sustainable and intelligent transportation systems (SITS). The chapter promotes a diverse array of research projects and engineering applications, leveraging the extensive resources available within the College of Engineering’s Center for Environmental Research & Technology (CE-CERT). We will also organize workshops, guest lectures, and project activities to equip members with the skills to tackle complex transportation, air quality, energy, and climate change challenges. Additionally, we will collaborate with other ITE chapters in Southern California to provide networking opportunities for transportation engineering students across campuses. Our partnerships with CE-CERT and the regional transportation agencies will enhance the understanding of advanced mobility technologies, such as connected and automated vehicles, and transportation electrification. Ultimately, our goal is to educate and inspire the next generation of transportation engineers to create sustainable solutions focused on safety, mobility, environmental resilience, accessibility, and equity.
